Live Oak Labs LLC ("Live Oak Labs", "we", "our", or "us") is a Florida limited liability company. This Privacy Policy explains how the Simple Signal mobile application (the "App") handles information. It covers the Simple Signal App only. Our other apps have their own privacy policies.
By using the App, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the App.
The App stores the following in its own storage on your iPhone:
Your latest Quick Check result is shared with the App's widget on the same phone. None of this information is sent to Live Oak Labs or anyone else.
If you back up your iPhone, including with iCloud, those backups are handled by iOS, not by the App.
To measure your speed, the App connects to speed test servers run by:
Like any internet connection, these servers see your phone's IP address. Upload tests send blank data. Your results, room names, and WiFi network names are never sent. Tests run only over WiFi, never cellular.
The App asks for Location permission ("While Using the App") because iOS requires it before any app can read the name of the WiFi network you're connected to. The App uses this permission only to show your network name on screen. It never asks for your location coordinates, and it never stores or sends your location.
Pro is an optional one-time in-app purchase. Apple processes the payment. We use RevenueCat to help manage your purchase status. RevenueCat receives:
RevenueCat does not receive your name or email.
$Links: opening the Privacy, Support, or Website links in the App opens liveoak-labs.com in an in-app browser. Nothing from the App is sent.
$Email Support: tapping Email Support opens a draft email to hello@liveoak-labs.com. It is sent only if you choose to send it.
The App does not send your results, room names, WiFi network names, or location to Live Oak Labs or anyone else. The only companies that receive information from the App are:
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under California and other U.S. state privacy laws. We have not done so in the past 12 months. We do not use your data to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies, and we do not use third-party advertising or advertising analytics tools in the App.
Deleting the App removes the data it stored on your device.
The App does not ask for a name, email address, or account from anyone, including children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us at hello@liveoak-labs.com and we will delete it.
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights:
Your rooms and results are stored only on your device and are never sent to us. Deleting the App removes them.
$How to make a request: email hello@liveoak-labs.com. We may need to verify your request before we act on it. You may use an authorized agent; we may ask for proof of their authority and verify your identity directly. We will respond within the time required by applicable law (generally 30 to 45 days, and we will tell you if we need more time).
$Appeals: if we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision or emailing us with the subject "Privacy Request Appeal." We will respond within the time required by law. If you are not satisfied, you may contact your state attorney general.
This section supplements this policy under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CCPA"). Through the App, the following categories of personal information are disclosed to our service provider RevenueCat if you buy Pro, as described in Section 6:
We do not sell or share personal information and have no actual knowledge of selling or sharing the information of consumers under 16.
California's "Shine the Light" law lets residents ask about disclosures to third parties for direct marketing. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws (including Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and others) have the rights described in Section 12, as provided by their state's law. We do not sell personal data, process it for targeted advertising, or use it for profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
If you have a privacy concern or complaint, please contact us first. We will try to resolve it within 30 days. This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, except where the law of your place of residence requires otherwise.
